Topic: Sunday Morning Message Passage: Nehemiah 1:1–1:11
On Sunday April 30th at 8:30AM and 11:00AM join us as we begin our study of the book of
We will learn about the plight of Israel when the nation was
destroyed and the people of Israel were carried away to
Babylon, where they lived as exiles and outcasts. God sent this judgment on Israel because of their continued unfaithfulness to God’s covenant that he made with His people. The day
finally came when God called them to return to Jerusalem.
However, when they arrived there, they discovered things had dramatically changed for the worse. The Temple was
destroyed, the city walls were torn down, and the land had been taken over by people who did not want them back. There was work to be done, and it was not going to be easy.
Nehemiah was a leader of Israel. He faced opposition and
difficulty from every
side--even from his own people. Yet he stood against all his
enemies, trusting only in God. As we as a church family dig into the Old Testament story of Nehemiah, we will discover how this leader’s courage and faith can inspire us as we
struggle to live a life pleasing to God.
