Starting August 19th, The Grind: Persevering in a Tough World
Paul encourages and equips us to persevere through the daily grind of school, work, and family with purpose and meaning. This four-week sermon series deals with the importance of overcoming adversity and fighting for faith, even when life is difficult. By examining the life of the Apostle Paul, this series considers the call of every believer to share in Christ’s sufferings, to understand the value of contentment, to receive the necessity of joy amid grief, and to apply the quality of faithfulness to our daily walks with Christ.
Week 1 The Grind Includes Suffering
Text: Acts 9:1-19
Paul’s God-given destiny was marked with a call to suffer for Christ. Every believer is called to share in Christ’s suffering to some extent, so we need to be ready.
Week 2 Contentment because Christ is Enough
Text: Philippians 3:7-11
Paul was in prison, yet he considered all his suffering worthwhile in order to know Jesus better. If we keep our focus on Jesus and his purposes, we can be content in all circumstances.
Week 3 The Grind: Trials and Paradoxes of Life
Text: 2 Corinthians 6:1-10
Paul suffered physically, emotionally, and relationally, yet he endured by learning to walk in the tension of both joy and grief. We will find the strength to remain joyful in hard times when we learn to hold both sorrow and joy at the same time.
Week 4 The Grind: Finishing Well
Text: 2 Timothy 4:3-8
Paul finished well because he remained faithful. We won’t be perfect, but we can still be victorious by persevering to the end.
