Job Summary
Our church preschool is seeking caring, dependable, and flexible Substitute Teachers to provide a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered learning environment when regular classroom teachers are absent. Substitute teachers play an important role in maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere and ensuring children continue to learn, grow, and feel secure throughout the day.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for children ages 2–5 in a safe, loving, and engaging environment.
- Follow lesson plans and classroom routines provided by the lead teacher or preschool director.
- Lead age-appropriate activities, including circle time, centers, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and story time.
- Incorporate Bible stories, prayer, and Christian values into daily interactions as appropriate.
- Encourage positive behavior using respectful and developmentally appropriate guidance techniques.
- Assist children with daily routines, including snacks, restroom breaks, and transitions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
- Communicate effectively with preschool staff regarding the day's activities and any concerns.
- Follow all church, preschool, health, safety, and state childcare licensing policies.
- Be available to work on an as-needed basis, sometimes with short notice.
Qualifications
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare, preschool, church, or educational setting preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field is a plus.
- Ability to work with children in a patient, caring, and positive manner.
- Strong communication, flexibility, and classroom management skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to adapt quickly to different classroom environments.
- A personal commitment to Christian values and a willingness to support the mission and ministry of the church.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and meet state childcare licensing requirements.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
Schedule
- On-call, as-needed position.
- Hours vary based on staff absences and preschool needs.
- Opportunities may include half-day or full-day assignments during the preschool week.
