Prayer Day 7

A Prayer for Wisdom

“For the LORD give wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” - Proverbs 2:6

- Proverbs 4:7

December 17, 1903, was a turning point in history. After years of experiments, Wilbur and Orville Wright actually flew in their plane, the “Flyer.” This first flight lasted just twelve seconds, covering 120 feet. They flew three more flights that day, but the longest lasted 59 seconds, covering 852 feet.

Did you know most people doubted that it was even real. Most people in their hometown of Dayton, Ohio, thought it was just a fluke. Photographs of the flight were received with indifference or skepticism. A Paris newspaper concluded that the whole thing was a “fabrication.”

These skeptics did not realize that the Wright brothers had discovered the basic principles of flying. While only flying for short distances, they had proven that flying was possible. Soon, their discoveries would change transportation, leading to vast changes throughout society.

Learning the basics is critical to success in every endeavor, but especially in our spiritual lives. It is only through the truths found in Biblical principles that we ever find true wisdom. The Bible urges us to remember the importance of learning God’s principles. Seeking His wisdom. Basing our lives on His Word. This is the secret to wisdom, building a solid foundation in Scripture in every area of our lives.

PRAYER

All Knowing God,

You know the end from the beginning, and we praise You for it. We thank You for speaking forth wisdom through the life, death and resurrection of Your Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, lead us deeper into Your Living Word where we can know true wisdom by following in Your ways and knowing Your heart. Holy Spirit, speak into our lives what is true, right, praiseworthy and lovely. May we reflect Your wisdom and understanding in how we live and how we love others. Amen.
