This past week was Labor Day and my family took that literally. We have been meaning to organize our garage for years now and it seems like a never ending battle. I was just about to install some shelves when my wife reminded me that two years ago we dreamed of installing windows in the back of the garage to allow more circulation.
So, this past Monday, I started the process of installing two windows. And what started off as Labor Day has turned into Labor Week. Each night after work I have worked a little more. Framing. Electrical. Cutting. Waterproofing. A little more every night. But last night, I finally achieved it. My entire family came out for the grand finale to see one of the windows installed.
Sometimes, a big dream can take a while. You just want it to be done, but you keep working away at it, a little at a time.
Our lives are a bit like that as Christians. We become a Christian and wish we were all of a sudden patient, kind, loving, peaceful (fill in the rest of the Fruits of the Spirit). It just doesn't happen like that. It takes longer than you think. But, we do not get discouraged. We work at it a little bit every day. And before you know it, there are cracks of light begin spill through the wall and the light of Christ begins to permeate through our lives.
