DAY EIGHT | Acts 5: 17-42
Imagine a river, flowing with an unyielding current, encountering a massive boulder blocking its path. Instead of stopping, the river finds ways around it, sometimes going over, sometimes going to the sides, but always moving forward. This relentless force of nature mirrors the early believers in Acts 5:17-42.
Jealousy drove the religious leaders to imprison the apostles, attempting to dam their influence. Yet, by divine intervention, the prison doors opened, and the apostles were back in the temple, preaching about Jesus. They couldn’t be stopped.
Called before the Sanhedrin, instead of cowering, Peter and the other apostles proclaimed, "We must obey God rather than human beings!" Even when threatened and flogged, their spirits remained unbroken. They rejoiced in suffering for the Name.
Gamaliel’s counsel to the Sanhedrin rings true for all ages: "If their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God."
Our journey with Christ will undoubtedly face obstacles. Sometimes these are external pressures; at other times, they might be internal doubts. Yet, Acts 5:17-42 encourages us to be like the unstoppable river. When our purpose aligns with God’s will, no boulder, no barrier, can hinder our progress.
Today, let’s be emboldened by the apostles’ example. With eyes fixed on Christ and hearts rooted in God’s purpose, our faith becomes an unstoppable force, carving pathways of hope and transformation in the world.
