DAY SIXTEEN | Acts 10: 1-23a
Imagine standing at the edge of a vast landscape, your vision limited to just the nearby surroundings. Suddenly, the horizon stretches, revealing an expansive and diverse terrain beyond what you thought possible. Acts 10:1-23a offers a glimpse of such an expanded horizon in the spiritual realm.
Cornelius, a Roman centurion, is not within the familiar landscape of early believers. Yet, his heart is attuned to God. In a divine vision, he's instructed to seek out Peter. Concurrently, Peter, on a rooftop in Joppa, receives his own vision: a vast sheet filled with animals, and a voice saying, "What God has made clean, do not call common." It's a paradigm-shifting revelation, challenging Peter's long-held beliefs about purity and inclusion.
The synchronized visions to both Cornelius and Peter are no coincidence. God is unveiling a broader spiritual horizon, revealing that the message of Christ is not confined to a particular group but is available for all.
As we delve into this passage, we're reminded that God's embrace is boundless. He constantly invites us to broaden our horizons, to challenge our preconceptions, and to welcome those we might previously have overlooked.
Today, let's pray for the grace to see as God sees: without borders, without biases, and with an unending love for all His creation. And as the horizons of our hearts expand, may we echo God's inclusive love in our actions and attitudes.
