DAY THIRTY FOUR | Acts 19: 21-41
In a quiet pond, a single stone’s throw can create ripples that spread across the entire surface. Acts 19:21-41 reminds us of the vast ripples the Gospel message can create in the world around us.
Ephesus, known for its temple to the goddess Artemis, was a city steeped in tradition. As Paul preached the Gospel, the message began to take hold, affecting the very foundation of the city's beliefs and commerce. The silversmiths, seeing their trade in danger, initiated a city-wide uproar. The Gospel, the stone in this pond of cultural and economic life, created ripples that couldn't be ignored.
For the craftsmen, these ripples threatened their livelihood. But for many others, the ripples brought life, transformation, and hope. It reminds us that the Gospel's truth, while life-giving, can be challenging and even confrontational.
As believers, when we embrace and share the Gospel, we must be prepared for the ripples it creates. Some will welcome the change, while others, holding onto old ways, will resist. But amidst opposition and chaos, like in Ephesus, the truth stands firm.
