Advent Day 12

READING:
Ruth 1:15 - 2:3

KEY VERSE:
But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.

REFLECTION:
Did you know that this story occurs in Bethlehem, hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus in that same city? In this story we find Ruth, a young lady from another country, who gave up her life to serve her mother-in-law, Naomi, upon their return to Israel. While picking up the grain that falls to the ground during harvesting, Ruth found favor with Boaz. They end up getting married and subsequently became part of the lineage of Joseph, the father of Jesus, as well as the great- grandmother of King David.

PRAYER:
Help us, Lord, to realize that when we serve others with our lives, we become part of God’s great story of salvation. Thank you for taking care of us, like you took care of Naomi. Please provide for our family in the months and years to come. Amen.
