This week in Costa Rica was the inaugural General Conference of the Global Methodist Church. Perhaps you have followed along with some friends online, but let me share with you a bit of what I read:
One friend wrote that he witnessed:
"Tears as we signed our constitution and championed a new mission and vision statement. Tears as I saw people fall under the power of the Holy Spirit. Tears as the people called Methodist returned to a singing people. Tears as Holy Love fell in and over his people."
Another friend wrote about how a revival was breaking out all week:
"Its Him. Its fire. It’s Refining, and it’s Holy. Even as I write this, I want to get low. Everyone wants authority, but nobody wants to be emptied. Everyone wants His Presence, not realizing that if He answers you, your only option is "death to self." Holy must replace sin. Holy Love must overwhelm unholy affections. And when the flesh dies, it does so with great drama. So, I’ve come to this vulnerable conclusion: I believe God is answering the cries of the Wesleyans. I believe we have a grand depositum to share with the world. And… I believe the Global Methodist Church will be led by the emptied—the carriers of the Holy—the consecrated people."
I share this because what is happening in the Methodist Movement is powerful friends. What started at Asbury in the Revival a few years ago continues to spread to Costa Rica. Stories of God's revival are taking place around the world. I also feel God's presence shifting the winds in the Methodist Movement in Alvin, TX. We are the torchbearers to that revival for our community and quite frankly, I don't want to miss it!
