I believe that every person needs to feel connected to the story of what God is doing here at Alvin Methodist. We all long to belong to something greater than ourselves—a community where we are known, loved, and valued. Jesus demonstrated this beautifully when He said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35, NIV).
The love of Christ becomes visible when we serve one another, not just by attending Sunday worship but by actively becoming part of the church’s mission. It’s in serving that we discover the joy of being part of something bigger than ourselves and deepen our sense of belonging.
I remember as a kid all the times that I served along side my parents at my church growing up. I remember cooking together, helping paint classrooms, helping a neighbor in the community. I'm sure we helped people, but my memory mostly was the connections of those people that worked along side each other. Those moments taught me that the relationships formed in service are often where the real work of God happens. Serving connects us not only to others but also to the heart of what God is doing in our church and community.
So, let’s find a way to share a connection with someone—whether it’s through volunteering, inviting someone to join you in a project, or simply reaching out with kindness. Together, we can help everyone feel like they truly belong to the story God is writing here at Alvin Methodist.
